They wanted 'success' and what it meant for them was breaking into the top featured lists. But they realized making and sending a lot of prototypes to publishers wasn't sustainable. I think they burned out because of this. Actually the final bit of the article gives good advice: don't make things for the random masses, instead find your target audience and offer services. In their case not making games directly anymore but now running game servers. What I'd personally define success is close to that. Build a game for your niche, be consistent with them with updates and they'll pay you back. level 2 I came to say this. He really was chasing the money and his comparison to his current venture being more profitable indicates that. However I'd like to take the niche thing one step further. Make the game YOU want to play. Forget trying to guess what other people want and do what feels right for you. Thanks for sharing OP. level 2 The game made shit money anyway even though it was "popular" level 2 and within 500, 000 of downloads, he didn't see much revenue from the ad, and there is just one single IAP for removing ads, and the game die very quickly after it's feature run out and the same game, release on the same day on Google play but didn't get featured only get 4000 downloads.
